The ufo cover-up has been called the biggest con in human history. I know of others, mostly pertaining to religion, but once this process reaches critical mass,  you are likely to see a revolution against the human powers that be that have been withholding this stuff from the masses. I think that most people have been conditioned with things like Star Wars or science fiction shows to embrace this scenario positively. The so called Elite / Bilderburgers / Cabal think of this knowledge as power, and they are holding on to it.
